Our plate glass comes in a variety of different thicknesses, and it can be purchased with many different tints. All of our plate glass products can be cut to your specific dimensions, and they can be polished, or seamed depending on your preferences and budget. Plate glass is not a safety glass, and it should not be installed in doors, or used in areas that might be prone to breakage. Plate glass can crack and break into large and very sharp pieces.
Tempered glass is a heat strengthened form of plate glass that breaks into small pieces, or "diamonds" to help prevent significant injury. This does not mean that you can't be cut, or injured by tempered glass. Tempered glass can be provided in a variety of tints, and thicknesses, and it can be polished, or seamed. Some of the common applications for tempered glass include door glass, glass shower enclosures, and glass railings.
Laminated glass can be fabricated with tempered or plate glass, and is made by layering two separate pieces of glass with a thin layer of laminate between them both. Laminated glass is a safety glass that holds together when broken or cracked. If you have ever seen a cracked windshield, you've seen laminated glass. Laminated glass is great for doors, ground level applications, and as a substitute for tempered glass. Laminated glass comes in a variety of tints, and thickness with seamed or polished edges.
Insulated glass or insulated glass units are made by sealing two separate pieces of glass together around a hollow band that is filled with moisture absorbing beads. After all components of the insulated unit are cut to size, we then seal them with a hot melt butyl machine, and inspect them for any flaws. Insulated glass units can be made in numerous thicknesses, sizes, and tints. Insulated units can also come with grids installed between the two pieces of glass.
